Desistance (Creating Pathways out of the justice system)-Becky Self

Becky Self, is the Training Manager in the Probation Services Division with the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC).   Prior to the AOIC, she was the Deputy Director of probation in McHenry County, Illinois.  Becky worked for McHenry County Probation and Court Services for twenty-two years, during that time she worked with juveniles, sex offenders, adult mental health court/veterans court, and as the Evidence Based Practices Supervisor.  Becky was a part of the development, implementation, training, coaching and continued quality assurance of evidenced based practices in McHenry County.  Becky has a true interest in implementation science and how to bring evidence-based practices into different agencies.  She is a facilitator and trainer for Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT).  Becky earned a degree in Social Welfare at Northern Michigan University.  She graduated from the American Association of Probation and Paroles (APPA) Leadership Academy in 2020 and the Alliance for Community and Justice Innovation (ACJI) Leadership Institute and Implementation Leadership 2.0 and 2.1.  She is certified to deliver training in the Illinois Adult Risk Assessment, Juvenile Risk Assessment, Core Correctional Practices, EPICS-II, Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) Facilitator Training, Youth Mental Health First Aid, THINK Trauma, and SAMSHA’s How to be Trauma Informed for Community Corrections.

IPCSA Policy Regarding Virtual, COPE Approved Trainings

To receive training credit for virtual, COPE approved IPCSA sponsored trainings, each participant’s display name must contain their first name, last name and county of employment.

In those rare occasions where individual display names are not possible due to lack of equipment or department resources, multiple participants may use a single computer; however, a supervisor/CMO/Director must email association1969@ipcsa.org at least 48 hours PRIOR to the start of the training to provide a list of those individuals who will be on camera.   The list shall contain the following information for each participant:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • County of Employment

On the day of the training, ALL participants *must* be visible on camera, have access to the microphone, and actively participate in the training.
