NRCT is an evidence-based, week-long, COPE approved training designed specifically for Probation, Parole and Community Corrections Officers that teaches self-defense techniques using natural movement. During this training program, officers will learn how to employ defensive tactics, and use whatever safety equipment they normally have, in a manner that will minimize the risk of injury to both the officer and the aggressor. This program is not designed to take away from any defensive tactics training you may have previously received. Rather, the techniques are designed to add more tools to the toolbox, and provide techniques that, under stress, in a crisis, are easily retained and effectively applied. This training allows the attending officers to return to their jurisdiction to teach level 1 NRCT. Being able to train your own department on site can greatly reduce the overall cost per officer for your department.
Certification is a week-long process. The benefit of being certified as a NRCT instructor is not only knowing and learning self-defense techniques, but also in the hope of doing trainings in your home county/region/jurisdictions and also possibly be trainers for a class at an IPCSA conference. Currently there are 22 Probation Officers in the State of Illinois who are certified as NRCT instructors and looking for recertification.
We are looking for additional Probation Officers who may be interested in becoming a certified NRCT Trainer (capacity of this training is 36). Cost of this training is dependent on the number enrolled. As the number of attendees increases, the fee decreases. At capacity of 36, the per person cost of this week long training is $320.00.
