The Officer Safety and Wellness Committee (OSWC) was developed to promote a healthy and safe working environment for all Probation and Detention Officers in the State of Illinois. The committee will promote best practices in the field of officer safety and officer wellness-related issues through meetings, regional training, and workshops. The committee additionally will transact the necessary business, discussions, research evaluations, and determinations of officer safety education and training matters of mutual interest.

Officer Safety and Wellness Committee’s goal is to work collectively to foster an environment in which probation professionals can work together to create, as much as reasonably possible, a safe working environment for probation officers. The committee will seek to enhance officers’ awareness when it comes to potential threats of all types.
